Robotics FTC Team : High Voltage 18263

The booth will be hosted by High School Students of Team High Voltage. The primary activity will be the demo of various types of Robots and hands-on experience for participants. They can learn about robotics, play with robots, and learn about the design, programming, and engineering aspects related to these robots.

San Diego Miramar College, Biotech

We will be facilitating a micro pipetting techniques hands-on activity to measure liquids in 100 microliter increments. We will be using water with food coloring, so nothing toxic and easy clean-up. We will be making pipette art and participants will get to take home their bookmark project.

Mechanical Advantage

Mechanical Advantage is a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team and nonprofit that uses robotics to provide STEM learning opportunities to their community. Event attendees will learn about the FIRST Robotics program and have a chance to drive and operate robots to gain an understanding of how they are designed, built and programmed.

Magnolia Science Academy San Diego

Our booths will include air cannons, candy DNA, art projects, VEX robotics, and bristle bots.

Neurocrine Biosciences

Neurocrine is joining the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering to help educate the San Diego community on some of the fun things we work on!
We will have 2 fun crafts/activities for family's and kids to take home with them!
We will have information about Neurocrine, opportunities available at the organization, as well as internship program insights!

Projects (tentative): Neuron Key chain & Brain Caps

Bostonia Global High School Maker Club

Students from the Maker Club will have 2 hands on kinetic activities. Participants will walk away with an activity piece.

Biodiesel & Algal Studies Group

Since 2009 Castle Park High students, with Dr. Pomeroy of UCSD, have learned to produce biodiesel from vegetable oil. Our booth demonstrates the step-by-step process of biodiesel synthesis, discusses the advantages of biodiesel over petroleum and outlines the ease of production. Our booth includes CAICE researchers who provide demonstrations concerning climate change and atmospheric chemistry. We also partner with Algenesis who demonstrate biodegradable materials that mimic plastics and foams.

Pure Water San Diego

Pure Water San Diego is part of the Public Utility Department's project for Potable Reuse. We have a prize wheel and many giveaways including a youth activity booklet.
