Mechanical Advantage

Mechanical Advantage is a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team and nonprofit that uses robotics to provide STEM learning opportunities to their community. Event attendees will learn about the FIRST Robotics program and have a chance to drive and operate robots to gain an understanding of how they are designed, built and programmed.

Neurocrine Biosciences

Neurocrine is joining the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering to help educate the San Diego community on some of the fun things we work on!
We will have 2 fun crafts/activities for family's and kids to take home with them!
We will have information about Neurocrine, opportunities available at the organization, as well as internship program insights!

Biodiesel & Algal Studies Group

Since 2009 Castle Park High students, with Dr. Pomeroy of UCSD, have learned to produce biodiesel from vegetable oil. Our booth demonstrates the step-by-step process of biodiesel synthesis, discusses the advantages of biodiesel over petroleum and outlines the ease of production. Our booth includes CAICE researchers who provide demonstrations concerning climate change and atmospheric chemistry. We also partner with Algenesis who demonstrate biodegradable materials that mimic plastics and foams.
