Conservation + Comics - Preserve, Protect, and Make Art with the National Park Service

Fri, Mar 13 - 10:00am to 11:30am
Fri, Mar 13 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm

Art is a powerful tool that can transcend barriers – it can help scientists meet people where they are and tell relatable and impacting stories that move minds. With the Conservation + Comics program, Cabrillo National Monument (National Park Service) provides a distinct experience for youth and families in the greater San Diego area. In our two-part program, participants will be guided by a biologist through a thematic nature exploration of the park, then an art educator will lead the participants in an innovative way to tell scientific stories – through comics! With the Conservation + Comics workshop, participants will learn what it means to preserve and protect, and will communicate that conservation science with a nature comic they get to create and keep. Fun for ages 7+!
